WHO WE ARE
GALATEA was created in 2017 to develop research on Southeast Asia, from a perspective encompassing traditional and non-traditional security issues. As a strategic crossroad, the region asserts itself as a center of geopolitical and economic stakes of a large variety of actors.
In this perspective, we thought it was essential to set up an independent structure that advocated a multidisciplinary approach (political science, international relations, sociology, economy, history, etc.) and a multiscale approach (local, provincial, national, regional and global levels) to analyze issues and matters related to contemporary Southeast Asia.
WHAT WE DO
Promoting research
Founders of Galatea have been involved in research in Southeast Asia. Most of us found complicated to get funding or scholarship. As we are now working in private or public sectors, for some of us in Southeast Asia, we decided to set up a platform where young scholars and professionals can debate and publish their research in different format.

One of our goal is also to promote and support research of young scholars throught partnership with private sectors and institutions. We decided then to define research programs related to security issues. We also see galatea as an open platform for exchanges.
